This fall has been enjoyable, as we've experienced some new things and enjoyed so many other blessings from God! We continue to settle, adjust to and enjoy life in Colorado. Here's the story of our late fall in pictures:
Gary is in SYD (Singing Youth of Denver) and has performed in several places in Colorado. SYD is made up of kids 13-18 from several congregations in the "Front Range." This pic was from a trip he took with the group to Walsenburg and Colorado Springs.
The kids all went to a "Bible costume party" with several families from Bear Valley. They seemed to enjoy it all. Can you tell what Bible characters Dale and Carl are?
We've made quite a few friends at Bear Valley, including the Hites. We orchestrated a surprise impromptu party for Lynn Hite for her birthday. They're such a super family!
When Kathy, Bill Snell and I went to Tanzania and France early last year on a mission trip, we took T-shirts from our favorite local hang-out, "Moe's," to a couple of locals. Moe's put up Kathy's picture taken with Carolyn (local Christian in Arusha) taken outside the Arusha church building while we still lived in Mechanicsville. In November, Dale and I went back as I spoke on the Cold Harbor Lectureship. The picture is still hanging there!!
Outside of Moe's with my parents and younger brother, Brent. It was good to see them, if only for a few hours. We miss them!
It's been a treat to have the opportunity to take a boy or boys with me when I travel to speak places. In November, I took Dale with me to Cold Harbor and then down to Charlotte, NC (Lake Norman congregation) for a gospel meeting. The picture below is taken at Minneapolis' airport. We were able to stay with our DEAR friends the Hadras (Mary and Steve) in Virginia and the Mooreys (Jill, Rob, Josh, Jonathan, and Alyssa) in North Carolina. What a treat!
We took a day to go with our good friends, the Mooreys, to Winston-Salem and Old Salem township. It was a neat day and we enjoyed being with these dear friends.
Dale and I eating at a DELICIOUS Pizza place in Mooresville, NC.
Gary turned fourteen years old on November 13th. He's really growing and maturing. We're proud of him, like we are of Dale and Carl. Gary did the devotional at Bear Valley on December 5th and did a great job. He also led closing prayer on Sunday, the 9th! Our boys are so spiritually-minded, and we thank God for that!
As always, Kathy--the consummate cook and baker--baked Gary's cake. It was delicious!!
On November 17th, the boys and I attended the last Air Force football game of the 2007 regular season. It was a blast, from the pre-game festivities to the game (an Air Force rout over San Diego St.). Seven parachuters came into Falcon Stadium and this guy, who's done thousands of jumps, was the grand finale.
A photo op at halftime.
Bud, Kristy (Kathy's sis), Lee and David Woodall came to our house for Thanksgiving this year. It was so much fun to have them here. We played games, went to Golden, watched football, the boys had a blast together and the time just flew by too quickly. They helped us put up the tree this year and Bud did a super job preaching the Sunday night after Christmas. We're thankful to have family within reasonable driving distance (about 12 hours). Kathy cooked a mean hickory pie and fixings, a veritable feast for us (Bud and Kristy whipped up a yummy turkey).
You know, Colorado's known for its mountains but I can't tell you how beautiful the skies can be. So I'll just throw in a couple of pictures to show you here at the end. Enjoy your holidays and come see us!
