Day 3 (from Stratton, CO)

We're here in Colorado! But, it was mostly all about Kansas today, a big, wide, long stretch of real estate that never seems to end. It was beautiful, though!! Gorgeous farmland and rolling hills. We did our customary stopping at the rest area to take a picture of the state sign, after a slow, leisure start to the day...

We stopped for a long break in Abilene, Kansas, so Kathy could get her antique fix and I could get my history fix. The boys (and Clover) are having a great time. Kathy said that the car thermometer read 110 degrees for most of the afternoon!! Here's a pic at the Eisenhower center (his boyhood home)...

And a restored grave marker in old historic Abilene town..

Finally, about 7 PM MST (we crossed that in the last county of Kansas), we crossed into Colorado. Lord willing, we'll press on in to Denver tomorrow!! We've logged about 1500 miles in two cars since Saturday morning! I'm going to bed.

Day 2 (from Topeka)

Our July 16th was a neat day. It started, of course, in Mt. Vernon, IL. We got as far as west of St. Louis, where we attended North Lindbergh church of Christ. We passed into Missouri around 9 AM CST. We couldn't get a photo until after lunch, as there was no rest area at the state line. Gene Wood preached a terrific sermon on biblical predestination. Guess who attends NLCOC? Kirk and Mendy Crews. They were students at U of Richmond (graduated in '01). I baptized Mendy and performed their wedding. They took us to lunch after worship. Also visiting NL that morning were the Hills, super dedicated members at Hillcrest church of Christ in Neosho, MO. Sister Hill is a sister of Winford Claiborne. Mendy is a candidate for teacher of the year for the state of Missouri. Kirk is very successful, working as an auditor of investing firms. Here's a picture taken at the church sign after services (it was hot! Clover stayed in a downstairs classroom during worship)...

We saw the Arch on our way in, right before services...

Below is the picture of the first welcome center on I-70 in Missouri. We worshipped at Bonner Springs, Kansas, for evening services and ended our travels for the day in Topeka--staying at an Amerisuites on Wannamaker Rd. Not the trailblazing of day one, totaling only about 375 miles.

Moving Road Trip Began Today (7/15)

For any who wondered if we'd blog with a report of day one's travels... YEP!! After a restful last night in Virginia at the Hadras and a hearty, super breakfast Steve prepared, we left from their house at 8:10 AM.

We entered West Virginia just before 11:30 AM...

And Kentucky at around 2:30 PM...

Indiana just before 6:00 PM...

Illinois around 9:00 PM EST (though we crossed time zones in Indiana)...

Exhaustedly, we lumbered into Mt. Vernon, IL (80 miles from St. Louis and 780 miles from our Mechanicsville, VA start) at about 10 PM, where we all are crashing!! The scenery along the way was beautiful and breathtaking, the green trees and farmland. The boys and dog were all super traveling companions. Kathy and I are both driving a vehicle, so we're doubling up on that cheap gas. More tomorrow, if circumstances allow.... love, the Pollards

Here's a good, kinda recent photo of the Pollards. This will allow us to post our picture on the profile page...

Mission Trip 2006

son in law of Roland and Rose Mohsen (Cold Harbor Road missionaries in France).

service at Paris (Rue de Deodat church of Christ).

Just a couple of photographic memories we have of our best mission trip yet. Kathy did a ladies seminar and taught several personal Bible studies in Africa. Bill Snell help a gospel meeting in Monduli, a military town west of Ksongo (Tanzania). He also conducted quite a few studies. I taught the epistles of John to the Andrew Connelly School of Preaching, in addition to preaching at Ksongo and Arusha a few times each. Bill and I each taught class and preached in Paris, France, en route back home, the first "check in" trip made there by Cold Harbor in several years. We greatly enjoyed being together, though the rainy season made for some uneasy riding in Africa.

A Few Miscellaneous Pictures From Early Summer:

Hopefully, I can post some pictures from Kathy's and my mission trip to France and Africa in March of this year. It was our first time to France, but fourth to Tanzania. We were blessed to have Bill Snell (the other minister at Cold Harbor Road church of Christ) to accompany us. Meanwhile, here are a few, more recent pictures.

Carl's blue tongue. This was taken
at Josie Snell's graduation party. Josie
will be going to Freed-Hardeman this fall.
Carl's tongue has returned to normal.

These are some of the folks who attended a
farewell for us at the C.H.E.R.I.S.H. (Christian
Home Educators of Richmond In Service to
Him) Homeschool party. Kathy was one of the
founders of this great and growing bunch.

The colonial with the deep
green grass is the house we
are selling in Virginia. We
close on July 14th. It sits on nearly an acre.

The traditional two story with the brick
inlaid driveway is to be our new home in
Colorado. It has gorgeous mountain views
from upstairs and a garage!! We close on this
on July 24th.

Latest On Our Transition

It was a good Father's Day in 2006.

Our last Sunday with Cold Harbor will be July 9, 2006. We will arrive in Colorado some time the week of July 16th. Our first official Sunday at Bear Valley church of Christ is July 23rd. We sold our house in twenty days and after two "house hunting" trips to Denver finally found the one we wish to own (along with the bank, of course). We hate to leave Cold Harbor, but we are looking forward to a new work with new challenges at Bear Valley. Just a few miscellaneous pictures to color the page:
